Alondra de la Parra
Orchestra conductor
Alondra de la Parra has conducted some of the world’s most renowned orchestras, including the Orchestre de Paris, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Verbier Festival Orchestra (VFO), the BBC Philharmonic, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra – Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
In the summer of 2022, Alondra de la Parra founded the inaugural PAAX GNP Festival. She is a regular guest at London’s Royal Opera House. In fact, she is the first Mexican conductor to lead an orchestra there. In 2016, Alondra de la Parra was appointed Music Director of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, a position she held until 2019, becoming the first woman to hold the post in an Australian orchestra.
While studying piano and conducting at the Manhattan School of Music, Alondra founded the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA) in 2004, at the age of 23. Her first recording, “Mi Alma Mexicana,” was released by Sony Classical to celebrate the Bicentennial of Mexico’s Independence. It reached the top ten on the U.S. classical music charts and was the first classical recording from Mexico to achieve platinum sales, which it accomplished in just two months.
